Stockport County have released nine players and started contract talks with three a week after the Wembley triumph against Rochdale.

Adam Proudlock, Adam Griffin and David Poole are the main first team players that have been released.

Proudlock is bound to cause the most debate, I personally would rather have Proudlock than McNeil but thats for another time.

Chris Adamson has been released, he must have been the worst signing in history – just two games played and that was when we had no other option in net, we got beat off Staines over those two games.

Rob Clare has been released and he is must be the unluckiest player around, constant injuries have ruled him out but we can’t afford to continue paying him whilst he is sat on the injury table.

Dan Ellis, Chris Coward, Craig Flowers and Amari-Morgan Smith have also been released from the reserve/youth set up.

Jim Gannon and Mark Maguire are begininning contract talks with Matty McNeil, Michael Rose and James Smith.

Rose and Smith, fine, I want them here, but McNeil!?

McNeil was in the team when we were at our worst, he played NO part in winning us promotion at all. He hasn’t started since November then makes a magical recovery for the Wembley game?!

Contract details and new signings will be announced here on Vital Stockport as and when they are available.
