Ablett Hoping For Maximum Points

First of all, news on the Melrose take-over deal. I’m hearing there will be an announcement tomorrow lunch-time. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeesus.

Anyway, focussing on the actual football for a moment and there’s a real chance of us pulling ourselves back into the mix now. Three home games coming up, and three very winnable ones – Gillingham, Oldham and Brentford.

Firstly, its Gillingham on Saturday and how ironic that (assuming Melrose completes the takeover tomorrow) our first match out of the whole administration mess is against the side who we played all the way back in December of 2008 and realised as fans the mess we were about to find ourselves in. A 2-1 defeat in the second round of the FA Cup at Edgeley Park and missing out on the third round tie of hosting Aston Villa. And from the on we just slid to, well…where we are now basically.

But it’s a new dawn an’ all that, and these three matches will hopefully see us claim 9 points and really boost the confidence…before a lovely trip down to Millwall and the New Den.

Manager Gary Ablett’s looking forward though, hoping our beach of a pitch at Edgeley Park will be an unlikely advantage for us in the search for these 9 points.

‘These games are possibly the most important of the season.’

‘We know how difficult the pitch is at Edgeley Park, but we have been able to perform quite well on it.’

‘It might take other teams by surprise and we can use that to our advantage.’

Jabo Ibehre is a doubt for the tie, though Roger Wylde is hopeful that the big striker will be ready to lead the line with fellow loanee George Donnelly.
