Ablett On The Offensive

Gary Ablett has hit out at failed transfer targets for showing a ‘lack of ambition’ by turning down County.

Ablett, who also says that ‘every player is up for sale’ at EP, blasted ‘reserve team players not having the fight to get in a relegation scrap’ with the Hatters, instead opting to happily take a wage for doing nothing.

‘Talks are ongoing (with possible targets) and I`m hopeful that we will be able to bring in that bit of experience and quality that we are missing.’

‘We`re finding it hard to attract players to the club but we`re giving them the opportunity to play 23 games here which is far better than playing in the reserves.’

‘I`ve been disappointed that some of the players we were after have decided that they don`t want to get involved in a relegation scrap here. I think it shows a lack of ambition to be happy to take their money sitting in the reserves while turning down the opportunity to play elsewhere.’

However, the former Liverpool and Everton defender did say that he was hopeful of players coming into Edgeley Park, though he warned more players could still leave.

‘We got decent money for Oli Johnson because really I was just going off reputation and what he achieved at the end of last season. For whatever reason, whether it be injuries or a lack of confidence, we just didn`t see that kind of form this season and it was a good offer for someone who wasn`t getting in the team.’

‘Carl was a more difficult case and if I`m honest I think Coventry got a bargain. He was watched by a lot of clubs but no one else put an offer in. Coventry weren`t going to up their offer and in the end, we couldn`t turn it down.’

Because of the situation we find ourselves in, every player is available.’

Ablett scaled down to 3 or 4 players coming in, with Huddersfield defender Robbie Williams in talks over a short-term deal.

Eeeeek. Nor happy with the Baker part, sounds like they got a real good deal. Hopefully the rumours of a Saint Warren of Feeney returning come true!

Feeney would give things a boost. Cant blame any player for not wanting to join us right now. Will tomorrow at last be the end of all this uncertainty?
