Ablett: ‘We Didn’t Play As Well As We Can’

County boss Gary Ablett was critical of his side’s ‘lack of belief’ in the 2-1 defeat at Carrow Road as The Hatters slid to within just one more loss of certain relegation this season.

Jabo Ibehre stunned the league leaders with an equaliser on the 12 minute mark, and despite a good, brave showing against The Canaries, Ablett was disappointed that County couldn’t ‘grab the initiative’ and ‘take the game to Norwich’ in the second-half.

‘If we had had the belief to go and play like we can do in the second-half, we could have possibly got something from the game.’

‘The situation we find ourselves in dictates that when things get tough, we find it difficult to step on from where we are.’

County will probably be relegated on Saturday if Yeovil win at Edgeley Park OR if results go against us, as we lie 16 points from safety with six games to go.

But the 44-year-old Scouser says ‘whether we’re relegated or not, there’s still something to play for’ for his team.

‘We’ll go into the remaining fixtures with pride and to do well for the fans. You have to remember we’re all playing for our futures here.’

‘We’ve got six games to go now so there is still 18 points to play for. Whether we get relegated or stay up, we’ve got something to play for.’
