Gary Ablett was today pondering whether the financial worries and constraints at the club were getting the players down and leading to the 5 game winless streak.

With relegation pretty much a cert anyway, it was all about playing for pride and grinding out some pleasing wins for the faithful, but even that has gone wrong in the past seven days with just one point from a possible nine at home.

And Ablett wonders if ‘circumstances are getting too much for some of the boys’ in his young squad.

‘I sometimes think whether the circumstances are getting too much for some of them.’

‘You can see the confidence visibly drain from one or two of the players and it becomes very difficult for them to play.’

And the under-pressure manager says that whatever him and his backroom staff say to try and lift the players heads, there’s ‘next to no response from some of the team’, revealing the difficulty he faces as manager.

‘No matter what we say before hand or try and say after, some of them are finding it really difficult at the moment because of the circumstances.’

‘It’s difficult because with the confidence draining and the belief going, I’ve got some boys playing in a man’s world and some of them are going under and can’t cope with it.’
