Aldred Joins Hatters As Saville Makes His Exit

County have signed Watford defender Tom Aldred on an initial one-month loan as defensive cover for duo Jordan Rose and Mani Assoumani.

As Danny Rowe left to join Northwich Victoria on a month’s loan to free up wages, on-loan centre back Jack Saville returned to Southampton without making an appearance for The Hatters. Saville is back at St. Mary’s on compassionate leave.

And boss Paul Simpson moved quickly to do a deal with Watford to bring in highly-rated Aldred, again though it is thought that the 20-year-old – who has been capped at Scotland Under-20’s level – will act as cover for skipper Danny Swailes, who is out for six months.

Aldred will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Bury.
