Alfy off to Dale

Young Stockport striker Adam Le Fondre looks set to join James Spencer at Rochdale after the two clubs agreed on a transfer deal.

The Offerton born 20 year old netted 11 times in total last season, four of which came during a two and a half month loan spell at Rochdale over the spring period and looks to be the second County player to head over to the other side of Manchester this summer in a move to Dale.

Keith Hill has made no secret of his desire to retain Alfy’s services on a permenant basis and he looks to have got his man after an ‘undisclosed’ fee was agreed along with a ‘substantial’ sell-on clause.

In total Le Fondre netted 19 times for County after progressing through the youth academy.

While personal terms are yet to be agreed it is believed that the transfer will be concluded within the next 24 hours. While it is a shame that Alfy failed to fulfill his promise and potential at Edgeley Park after interest from Man United while in the youth set-up, i’m sure all Stockport fans will wish Alfy all the best in the future.

I really hope this doesn’t come back to bite us. Although we have plenty of strikers to choose from, Alf on an opposing team could cost us points. I would have been happier had he left for League 1.

Exile, agreed. You can just predict what will happen when we play Dale. He is a talent at this level and sorry to see a Stockport lad leave but Jim knows best!

I think Rochdale have done a good bit of business there. I don’t think Bradford fans would have been unhappy if he’d joined us tbh

Yep. Dale should be happy. I can see Dale, County and Bratfud all in the mix at the top come April.

@cropped. Do you reckon we’re going to replace him or just stick with our current squad up front? Not too much of a problem if Proudlock stays fit, but if last season’s anything to go by the moment he goes down he’s out for weeks.

He looks gay and has a gay name. Sorry just an observation.

Exile, in todays Stockport Express Jimbo says that he is happy with his strike force at the moment. Proudlock, Elding, McNeill and Dicko with Pilkington, Coward and Turnbull all possible forwards in an emergency.
I see also the Ash has been made captain as well.

I am sad to see Alfie leave but it’s probably the best for him, hope he does well for them except for when he’s playing against us
