Stockport County reserves suffered a defeat in their first friendly this season at non-league side Altrincham.

County sent a strong team to Moss Lane, with Adam Proudlock, Dominic Blizzard and Anthony Pilkington all starting – players that should be involved on Saturday.

And it was Pilkington who made the first impression with a brilliant solo goal to hand County the lead.

Warren Payton then levelled the scores when he headed past second-choice keeper Chris Adamson in the County goals.

Colin Little then secured the win for Altrincham early in the second half, when a mix up allowed him an open goal to score and give Altrincham the lead which would eventually turn out to be the winner.

County had chances through Adam Proudlock, Greg Tansey and Dan Ellis to equalise, however none of them could find the net and County’s reserves team got their season off to a dissapointing start.
