Former Everton keeper Paul Gerrard has signed for County as a goalkeeping coach and second choice goalkeeper to Owain fon Williams.

Gerrard, 36 years old, will be in attendance tonight as County travel for a pre-season friendly with Barrow.

Manager Gary Ablett’s back-room staff is starting to come together now, as Gerrard is joined by Liverpudlian fitness coach Steve Jones from the Gateshead English Institution for Sport.

Good luck to both in their time at County.

Good luck to Gerrard, it didn’t work out for him at Everton in the 90’s but he was a model pro, I’m sure he’ll be a good coach for Stockport.

Nice recommendation ForeverEverton. We are building the club up from its foundations again and we will need more than a few ‘model professioanls’ to keep afloat this season.

As the foundations themselves determine the future & wellbeing of the ‘building’, I hope you cease this opportunity with both hands. 🙂

Great signing, this is what county now need to focus on more experience in the squad. He did ok at everton if my memory serves me right and between ablett and himself this could be great for county.A few more of the aged and wisened lads on the field and we could do well, one step at a time don’t wanna get too carried away!Step in the right direction though.I O County

Gerrrard had great potential at Everton but he was blighted by so many serious injuries & seemed to have lost a lot of confidence. Neville Southall praised him so he must’ve been talent, but we didn’t see enough of him at Everton because he was out injured so often.
