The Gannon re-shaping of Stockport County on the pitch has begun.

It was announced today that County winger Abs Baggie has left the club by mutual consent ‘to pursue other opportunities in full time football.’

Jim Gannon said: ‘I would like to wish Abs every success in the future and thank him for his contribution at Stockport County.’

Can’t say I am that surprised. Baggie, fleet of foot but very light in stature was never going to be a ‘Jim’ player in my book. The last time I saw Baggie play was against Telford in that dire team performance and it was clear after the first tackle from Telford’s left back that Baggies game was over.

So good luck ‘Abs’. We move on.

And move on with some pace as since Gannon’s appointment we have had three players incoming.

Firstly striker Obi Anoruo was signed from Gloucester City until the end of the season. The 24 year old was rumoured to be looking to move nearer his native North West and I look forward to his contribution. Anoruo was one of the top goal scorers in the Conference North last season, scoring 19 for the disappointing Colwyn Bay.

Next to join the Gannon revolution is another striker – Richard Brodie, who was released from his contract with Aldershot. Brodie, 28 years-old and six-foot-two, can score at Conference National level. He scored 69 goals in 165 games for York City.

One hopes these new strikers will transform what has been a mis-firing County at times.

Lastly, County have signed midfielder Conor Smith on loan from Fleetwood until February 27.

Feels more like County used to. Season ticket times three for next season. Let’s see if we can get a decent run going for the rest of the season and encourage a few more ST sales!
