Bath City NIL Stockport County TWO

County followed by 100+ supporting stalwarts see off Bath to claim only their 3rd win in 17 games. The defence keep a clean sheet too. Can it get any better?

Well, yes it can. Even though the Pure radio commentary was sporadic (and second half commentary for me was via BBC Radio Bristol), it did seem like we were not rock solid at the back (Piergianni and Lynch the pick) and also largely ineffective in possession. Sideways, sideways, back a bit, lose possession.

So not too dissimilar from recent games only this time the opposition were woeful, Chadwick (much maligned by some) notched again (that is 6 for the season so far) and a late 25 yard wunder-strike from Paton (on loan till New year – can we keep him a little longer?)

Still this result comes at a critical time for Didi and the players, confidence would have been shot to pieces had we lost. Something to build on now.

We are still only two points off the bottom four but middle-of-the-table Forest Green Rovers await on Saturday.

Can we get another monkey off our back and secure back to back victories for the first time in what seems like 100 fixtures?

I think we can. Too early for EI EI EI O ?

I would give you the link to the County Official Site match report but it appears the site is down at the moment. Yep. Insert your own analogy here…

A very welcome win. Really need to string together a run now. If the rumour of a takeover in the next few weeks is true will Didi still be our manager irrespective of if he begins to win games though. This club has been up in the air for too long. We need a period of calm off the pitch before we can really prosper on it.

  • Pato's Right Boot says:

How welcome was that win! I know it was against a very poor Bath side who are bottom of the table, but our squad needed a boost and hopefully this will give them just that. Didi can breathe a sigh of relief for another few days – FGR is for me another must win game.

Yes FGR is certainly another must win game. I expected mid table this season so we need to put a little run together. FGR is winnable, we have players coming back over the next 3 weeks or so, come on County… back to back wins!

I was not able to get to the game, having a serveza in the sun, but I listened to BBC Bristol. OK we won but lets not kid ourselves they were a poor side. If we had played a team higher up in the league we certainly would not have won. FGR will be a better tester to see what shape we are in. Somehow I don’t think we will get a result on Saturday. Back to back wins is a long way off as yet.
I hope that the rumoured take over by TE will hapen during the next few weeks. I believe he has come back with another offer but this one is a solo offer by himself. We need his drive and commitment to push us to better things. I don’t think it will happen this season but who knows for next season.
Cropped like I said before it doesn’t matter how many good/decent players you have unless they play in the team continually and to different tactics from the present ones we will struggle.

Haven’t been down this season and only a handful of times last season but do we still have a centre of excellence and any decent young players coming through? I hope any new owners have at least some commitment to building the football club and not just a commitment to quick buck by throwing up an Ikea flat pack stadium.

Evening, was at the game last night, and there was signs of encouragement within the team, still play with a nervousness hence the backward sideward play. Bath were poor which made life easier for us, but credit where credit is due was a win without conceding. One sour note was chadwicks goal celebration where he just as good as stuck 2 fingers up at us supporters, guess he has had some stick during the season. My personal view from yesterday is the comments sent from the terraces can do nothing for team morale, and reckon we should be supporting county win lose or draw, lets quit this Boo boy syndrome.

  • vicman says:

Hear hear Boothy359, win lose or draw they are still our team and we need to be solidly behind them no matter what the off-field antics are. Agree with you we don’t need the snipers. 3 points is 3 points no matter how and as long as it keeps this club alive then I don’t care how we get ’em. To be honest not expecting too much against FGR with our home form the way it is. A draw is pessimistic, a win is optimistic and a loss is realistic, sorry to be a dampener after last night but we have to face facts. 1 win against a poor BC does not save our bacon, hopefully like others it is a platform to build on, Come on the COUNTY.

OK, it was only Bath City, but that’s the league we’re in, and we have to beat these teams, here’s hoping for two home wins on the bounce, and then we should be confident for the Fleetwood game, then who knows ?
