Bishop Bashes Baffled Shrews!

On a day when County fans were talking about him, what else can he do to impress them than score two against our play-off rivals Shrewsbury.

County fans were discussing Bishop as a possible future signing on a message board, and then he goes and pops up with his 19th and 20th goal of the season.

Shrewsbury were baffled as Bury, just one win in 17 before last night, were rampant at Gay Meadow against a Shrewsbury side that had lost just one in the their last 15.

Andy Bishop gave Bury the lead after just 34 seconds, as he slotted home from 18 yards after Danny Hall gave away the ball in a key position.

Shrewsbury levelled just before half time though, Derek Asamoah got away a shot and it needed a deflection to beat Andy Warrington.

But Bishop gave Bury the lead once again early in the second half. After playing a neat one-two with ex County man Glynn Hurst, Bishop drilled a shot low and hard towards the far post and the Shrewsbury keeper had no chance.

And it was the ex County man Glynn Hurst the finished off the game with an unstoppable header on the 65th minute mark.

So, Shrewsbury drop points at home, and its a result that now means even IF Shrewsbury win their final game in hand, they will still trail County by a point. Wycombe are still in the play-offs by a point.

Only Shrewsbury, Bristol Rovers, Macclesfield & Wrexham have got any games in hand before the played column in the table will look perfect.

A win for Bristol Rovers in their game in hand would throw them into play-off contention and tighten that area, teams down to about 12th place are still hoping for the play-offs, but a win for Shrewsbury in their game in hand could pull themselves and County away from the chasing pack.
