Board Statement Causes Further Anger

A board statement released this morning has done nothing to clear the mist currently surrounding Edgeley Park.

After Ryan McKnight made it clear he was being the front man for this after saying he would be speaking on Pure tomorrow night, despite not starting his role till the 1st February (according to COWS), the statement released today gave County fans no direction or guidance about where the club is heading next.

The statement talks about not being able to build on foundations – perhaps that’s because you gave Jim no backing and didn’t support him? Instead choosing to take to the local radio and distance yourself from him.

Released on stockportcounty.com the statement read the following.

‘Jim returned to Edgeley Park in November 2011 bringing with him a wave of optimism. We survived the drop into the Blue Square North as he guided the club to seven wins in the last twelve games of the season.

Unfortunately we have not been able to build on that foundation and results this season have seen the club in the bottom four with seven wins from twenty six league games. This obviously has placed pressure on everyone involved, and we have therefore decided to relieve him of his duties to give the club the best opportunity of progressing up the league table.

We simply felt that his results record over the last twelve games, including just one win in the last nine league games played, meant that perhaps he had taken this team as far as he could.

We believe that a change of manager is required to build on Jim`s achievements of last season and to turn potential into regular winning performances.

On behalf of the Board of Stockport County we would like to pay tribute the unwavering passion he always showed.’
