Bye Bye Pilks

So its bye-bye Pilks and good luck for the future.

Pilkington at just 20 years old agreed personal terms with the Terriers yesterday.

He has signed a three-and-a-half year contract.

The fee has not been disclosed but I have heard figures in the range £400k to £600K.

If that is the case we can take the 30% off that Cheshire Sports will receive and County are looking at roughly £300K – £400K although I am unaware if there was a sell-on clause when we Pilks moved here from Atherton Collieries.

Looking at it from a purely financial point of view then that is not bad business. I just hope this is enough to see us through to the end of the season and no more of our better players leave.

From a footballing point of view it is disappointing. Those of us at the Southend match last week will have seen how well he played, and County will miss him… but it is not all doom and gloom.

Anthony Pilkingtons younger brother is on the County books and I am choosing to believe words out of the club that this kid may be even better than his older bro!

Keep the faith and come on County! Oldham tomorrow and a jar or two!
