Charnock signs.. for a BSP Club?

Today Stockport County announced the re-signing of Kieran Charnock, after he was released from Fleetwood Town. You will recall Charnock had a little spell with us last season and was certainly not one of the ‘social loafer / wasters’ that we had pulling on our shirt in my opinion.

A little background here

This comes on the back of two more signings – midfielder Ian Craney and youngster Brandon Windsor – two more useful additions.

Is it only me or does anyone else feel a tinge of optimism here?

Brandon is obviously one for the future. There is always the chance with these young players that they can be developed into an asset which may swell (sic) the Edgeley Park coffers.

Craney, at the other end of the ‘lifetime of a footballer’, should bring a bit of know-how to the middle of the park and I like Ian Bogie’s quote:

‘I am delighted to get Ian on board, he is a talented ball playing midfielder with vast experience having played at a high level. He knows all about the fantastic support at this club and cannot wait to play in front of them. He will be a great addition to our squad.’

It is the signing of Charnoock that fills me with most optimism though. At 28 years old he should be at the pinnacle of his career and despite the lure of playing for a club with a 10,000 capacity stadium and superb support, joining a Blue Square North club seems a drop too far to me.

Is this another little signal that County will remain in the Blue Square Premier ? Or are we getting carried away, so desperate are we as County fans to cling onto any bit of hope?

The new poll asks that very question… come this Saturday, Jun8th, will it be BSP or BSN ?

(Our last poll asked ‘County better off at a new ground’ and the result was 87% saying No. EP is home. End Of. No surprise there.)

You bet your life I have a tinge of optimism regardless of which league we play in. Same as every other season since pontious was a pilot. In fact like every other year I am getting excited. There have been plenty of rough patches over the years just like any relationship but you take the rough with the smooth and hope for the best. As for Aldershot I feel desperately sorry for their fans. It’s not their fault. Just like it wasn’t ours. The fault always lies with those incompetents holding the purse strings. Having said that any club that progresses spending money they don’t have (including us) is cheating and deserves to be penalised. To get back to the optimism. The season tickets paid for, the car is serviced, the Tom Tom updated, my diary is open just waiting for the fixture list.

We can expect more good news over the next 7 days. It is the first time in a number of years that optimism for next season is looking good.
    Get ready to celebrate….

Love your posts NE and BA. I have a few negative views that need to be put out to reflect many County fans feelings but not today.
