County Have Kevin Ellison Bid Accepted

League One Stockport County have had a bid for a bid for Chester City striker Kevin Ellison accepted by the League Two side.

It’s a surprising move, as Ellison is hardly the most prolific striker in League Two.

Ellison has been at County before, and he scored just two goals in 33 starts and 15 substitute appearances for County in the league between 2001 and 2004.

Since then he has played for Lincoln City, Chester City, Hull City, Tranmere Rovers and then back to Chester City.

Since leaving County he has scored 26 league goals in four years.

When you consider that Liam Dickinson could be leaving for a fee of around £750,000, plus the £350,000 we got for Ashley Williams from Swansea, it seems strange we are going for a striker that has scored just three goals in 2008.

Perhaps, yes, Ellison is more versatile and can play on the left hand side aswell as up top, but is Ellison the answer to League One?

I think not.
