County Secure Third Straight Home Win

Stockport County made it three straight home wins since the departure of Jim Gannon, as Darije Kalezic picked up his second lot of three points as County boss.

Paul Turnbull made his return to Edgeley Park in the Lincoln side, he was playing for County during December but returned to Northampton to be loaned out again to a Blue Square Premier side.

Craig Hobson, sent on loan by County to Lincoln, was ineligible to play. County made no changes from the side that lost to Wrexham last Saturday, but put in a good performance.

The first half went largely without anything of note – except for a penalty decision as yet again another poor, weak referee gave another bad decision as he awarded Lincoln with a penalty after O’Donnell was adjudged to have fouled the Lincoln striker.

However upon taking the penalty, Colin Larkin hit the penalty straight wide, wasting a massive chance to put Lincoln in the lead.

Mark Cullen, who was having a good game for County, hit the post before Danny Hattersley finished off some good County work with a wonderful finish as he slotted in at the near post past the onrushing goalkeeper.

And moments later County won a free kick just outside the area, Sean Newton stepped up and curled it past the wall into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 to County.

It was a great second half performance that gave County the deserved three points and another home win.

Onwards and upwards – blue army!
