County sunk at Luton

So, my pre-match thoughts were pretty accurate. I had hoped County would be able to scrape a 0-0 draw against an uninspiring Luton Town but this side (possibly the worst County side ever?) hadn’t the wit or invention to grind out a point in this most dire of predicaments.

One win in nine now.

Where’s your leading goal-scorer when you need him? That’s right, on loan at Southport. Super.

Some comments from around the internet:

‘they were poor but we were worse. its hard to see where our next win is going to come from…’

‘We don’t have time to allow these players to get fit and bed in, results have to come now. At the minute, sadly I don’t see where they are coming from.’

The BBC report is here and the local paper report is here

The prospect of playing Blue Square North ‘football’ next season is a very real one. With a playing staff of part-time players. Playing in a stadium with two sides open only.

I used to think that starting afresh at the bottom was a bit too much but the rate at which we may be dropping down the football pyramid means we will be there in no time at all. That is if we haven’t gone pop.

Wish I could leave you with a high note but at least spare a thought for the poor board members of Stockport County, who are living under a ‘fatwa’ from what we are told. I wish GMP every success in tracking down the dangerous ‘Al County’ cell.

Cropped.
