Stockport County could be set to complete the signing of goalkeeper Chris Adamson, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season.

Adamson, 28, stands at 6ft 2in and has represented eight teams in the last ten years.

West Brom, IK Brage, Mansfield, Halfiax, Plymouth, Halesowen, St Patrick’s and Sheffield Wednesday have all benefited from the keepers services.

Jim Gannon spoke today in the Stockport Express, saying ‘I`m expecting to complete contractual details for two of the players this week.

‘Once the new boys join us we will have a squad that will be competitive next season in League Two, I`m confident of that.’

With County looking to bring in a permanent keeper, with a loan keeper as back up, Adamson would be one half of that partnership and would be looking to make the number one shirt at County his own with no keeper currently on County’s first team books.

As soon as any signing is announced we will bring you news of it.

Fixtures are released tomorrow morning, and we will bring you all the key fixtures in the 2007/2008 season here on Vital Football.

Chris Adamson was the worst keeper ever to done a Wednesday shirt, seriously. You should be very very afraid if he signs!

Hmmm. Tell me more about what he was good and what he was bad at?

The guy would be the worst keeper in the world if that is something were to happen to Brad Jones. He’s ok at shot stopping but every other part of his game is below conference level. If you sign him i think you’ll end up signing another keeper after a week of watching him play for the first time. Go to your local boozer, get their keeper and he’ll do as well.

Now this all sounds like a direct replacement for Spencer. Sadly I mean DIRECT. ‘Good shot stopper but low on confidence otherwise’. I say we MUST keep off the guys back if he becomes our No. 1. The stick Spencer got (ok.. some of it justified… helps no one.)
    Cheadle End… keep it buttoned!

For someone of that age, I’d expect him to have a lot more first team experience if he were any good. Have to confess this is beginning to worry me.
