County V Oxford – Match Preview

County are looking to build on a massive win against Bury on Tuesday night, with another massive win on Saturday against fellow relegation candidates Oxford United at Edgeley Park.

County boss Jim Gannon has highlighted March as the month in which County can really decided their fate in League Two.

‘It really is a huge month for us,’ admitted Gannon on Tuesday. ‘We have got to start picking up points again after back-to-back defeats.?

Oxford this week have had their own troubles, with first team coach David Oldfield leaving the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford aren’t in the best of form, they haven’t won a match since the 2nd January when they beat Chester 1-0. Oxford have won just one match in the last ten.

County however, have lost just three matches since that day and they will be looking to drag themselves above Oxford with a win on Saturday.

Harpal Singh is expected to miss out with a shoulder injury, Damien Allen may miss out with a dead leg, whilst Michael Raynes is awaiting results on a scan of his hamstring.

Eric Sabin will miss out for Oxford with a long term injury, while ex County player Leo Roget is out suspended. Recently voted ?FourFourTwo’ Oxford player of the season Chris Tardif (goalkeeper) will also miss out.

It means that Billy Turley is likely to get a start in goal for Oxford.

The referee for Saturday’s game will be Trevor Kettle, Trevor has dished out 124 yellow cards and 8 red cards in just 30 games this season. The last game he refereed was at Watford V Coventry, the home side won 4-0 on that occasion.
