A statement from Des Hinks after he was asked to leave the club with immediate effect.

Shortly after this morning’s press conference announcing the terrific news the 2015 Consortium had been successful in their bid to save County, I was told my services were no longer required and asked to leave Edgeley Park with immediate effect.

Despite the worst season in the club’s history both on and off the field, we more than doubled website income last year and produced record sales from our award-winning match programme so I am immensely disappointed with the decision.

That said, I would like to wish the consortium good luck in the future but, more importantly, thank the thousands of fans who provided COWS and True Blue with tremendous support throughout the last 16 years that I’ve been involved with the two media channels. I would also like to thank my many friends and colleagues in the media for their support over the same period.

Out of every cloud comes a silver lining, though. I will now be able to return to the famous Cheadle End next season and stand shoulder to shoulder with the best fans in the world.

Sincere thanks, once again, for all your help and support … come on County!

Gutting for him. His passion for SCFC over the years has been obvious, good luck to him.

  • Well, the shake up is underway. Not met Des personally but only heard good things about the chap. Hope you get sorted out quickly Des.

  • | was extremely surprised, and, greatly saddened, to hear that Des Hinks has been fired by the new board! Des is an out and out County fan and has been a great servant to the club during his long stay. Whilst, we all understand that we are entering a new, difficult period of our beloved club’s history, I would of thought that a man of Des’s undoubted love of all things COUNTY! would of been a definite asset to the new regime. I would be interested to hear from any Director as to the reasons for this dismissal. See you in the Cheadle End Des!! Tweedledee!
