Tony Dinning will sign a two-year deal for Stockport County next week should he pass a medical.
The 31 year old, known as ?Dindo?, made 181 starts for County during his previous spell at the club and he scored 30 goals.
Dinning was a fans favourite at County after he originally came from Newcastle United along with Alun Armstrong, before leaving County 6 years later for £700,000 as he joined Wolvers.
Dinning played at Wolves, Wigan, Stoke, Walsall, Blackpool, Ipswich, Bristol City and Port Vale in the space of 6 years after leaving County in 2000.
One of County fans most favourite memories of Dinning in a County shirt was when he slotted home the 86th minute penalty at Maine Road to give County a 2-1 win back in 1999.
