Doble still confident of survival

The Welshman missed several gilt-edge opportunities to win the match against the Brewers and he could have had a hat-trick had it not been for some resilient but desperate defending from the away side.

Newly-appointed care-taker manager Ray Mathias stated before the match against Burton that he felt the Hatters had to win all 10 of their remaining games to have any chance of survival. The draw with Burton, along with Barnets’ 2-1 victory at Hereford means County now sit bottom of the football league, four points adrift and having played six games more.

Doble however, who returned to the side having served a three-game suspension is still optimistic:

”We want to win every game especially with the situation we find ourselves in at the moment.

”It’s alright to say that we’re unlucky but we need to win these games. I think the effort and the commitment is always there but we need to go on a good run and I think once we do, that’ll be it and everything will be good.

”I should have taken at least one of the chances today but the goalkeeper and their defence has done really well throughout the game.”
