The date: 29th October
The Place: Southport, Haig Avenue
The competition: The FA Cup but not the proper bit, oh no. This is the 4th qualifying round – the FA Cup proper 1st round awaits us if we can get past the Sandgrounders.
So, a fixture from the past but under the non-league banner nowadays.
I think, as this could well be our one and only FA Cup tie this season, I will travel to this one. Good excuse for a couple of 99’s and a bag of chips on the sea-front. Who knows, if I don’t get too comfy in a pub I might even go and watch the match as well.
At least getting knocked out of the FA Cup by a non-league club holds no shame for us any more.
Apologies for the somewhat downbeat article. Still got those Wrexham blues.

Desperate times when you you look at the draw for the FA Cup and see that you’ve drawn Southport and know deep down that you can’t win the game!
Your right PTB I feel that any team can beat us we are so poor this is almost asgood as a pass in the next round for Southport, I cannot see anything from us when we play we are as rubbish now as we have been for the last 3 years
Cannot help thinking, that the full squad we have should be comfortable in mid-table in this league. Maybe we will have a new gaffer by then. As I said in the brief article above, I will be going, at the moment not with much hope. A few beers and a sing-song is all I expect.
