FL Knock Back Melrose For Last Time

The Football League have released a statement today informing that The Melrose Consortium bid cannot be accepted due to ‘concerns over the proposed business plan’.

After the FL’s monthly meeting in Preston today, a representative released the following:

At its meeting in Preston today, The Board of the Football League considered an application for transfer of membership relating to Stockport County.‬

The Board was unable to approve the application as presented due to concerns about the proposed business plan and ownership structure.‬

The League will now continue to work with the Administrator to help secure the Club’s long term future and would encourage potential investors to come forward as a matter of urgency.

It now appears that Melrose has been knocked back for the last time, as other consortium The 2015 Group had a bid accepted by the administrators Leonard Curtis to buy the club yesterday, though there has been no statement from joint-administrators Paul Reeves and John Titley as of yet.

More on any new statement as soon as we can.
