Gannon To Leave London Road

Jim Gannon will leave Peterborough United at the end of the season after rejecting the offer of a permanent contract with the Championship side.

Gannon, whose side were thrashed 4-0 by a Scunthorpe side including new-boy Jimmy McNulty at Glanford Park yesterday, had earlier said he was open to the offer but would seriously have to think about it as he didn’t want to disturb and uproot his family if the job turned out to be an insecure one with Barry Fry at the helm.

And this morning ‘Jimbo’ has turned down the offer, which was a four-year contract, and will depart at the end of the season.

The big man spoke to Peterborough’s website: “Having given the matter considerable thought I have decided not to accept the football club’s offer of a contract to be the manager of Peterborough United for the coming seasons. I have enjoyed myself immensely over the last few months and would like to thank the chairman and Barry for the privilege of working in the Championship with Posh.”

“As you are aware I am not driven by personal financial gain or a mechanical professional drive. I have become a devoted family man over the last few years and the separation from the family over the last season has created a big void in my personal happiness and contentment.”

“Given that my partner is now pregnant and expecting our second baby in July, the need for their stability, security and happiness becomes increasingly important to me. I always promised myself, on behalf of my family, that I would always seek to strike a balance in my professional and personal life.”

Come home Jimboooooooo.

And in other news, it appears highly likely The Melrose Consortium will not be buying Stockport County…while Gannon openly admitted that the Scot was a reason for him not to return to EP. Dave Schofield, meanwhile, is still sorting out and preparing a bid for the club.

Now, it’s not for me to make up stories or plant seeds in mind’s, and I must stress I know as much as you lot at this point…but there MAY POSSIBLY PERHAPS be a plan coming together here…

Hmmmm?

Yeah, apologies for making it sound like something from The A-Team. Easily excited an’ all that.
