Tonight Stockport face Gateshead in a Blue Square Premier League. Gateshead are currently doing really well in the. League and currently sit just 2 points outside the playoff zone. Several weeks ago Gateshead were top of the league but a run of the last 7 games have seen them drop down the league.

Recent form in the league for Gateshead has not been great with the last five games seeing Gateshead only winning once and drawing four. Gateshead sit 14 places higher than County with 37 points from 22 games this is 18 more points than County currently have. Gateshead have been in good form on the road this season with winning 6 drawing 2 and loosing just 2 of their 11 away games.

Former Newcastle man Ian Bogie is the manager of Gateshead and have been in charge if them for the last 4 seasons, Bogie has seen success at Gateshead with back to back promotions in 2008 and 2009 in order to get Gateshead to where they are today.

Jon Shaw is Gateshead top scored this season with 17 goals from 21 games and will surely be a threat to the county defence tonight.

Jim tonight looks for his first win back as County boss after loosing the last 3. With the most recent a 7-0 hammering at struggling Grimsby last Tuesday night.

County have only one injury concern for tonight game and this is on loan Bristol City full back Joe Edwards. Matt Glennon has been training the last few days and is expected to return tonight in the goal fro make his first appearance since Jim has taken over 3 weeks ago. Carl Piergianni also expects to return to the squad tonight to reform his partnership with County captain Danny O’Donnell.

With Jim having a full week since the defeat to Grimsby all we can hope for is a improvement to the squad in order to just compete against teams in the league, unless this happens our current relegation spot position will be something the county fans see more and more often. My prediction is that county will have a hard game tonight and will loose 1-0 but I hope the mighty Hatters can prove me wrong…

Let’s hope Jim’s return can make the real difference everyone hopes with a reformed side against promotion seeking Gateshead……
