So, Bogie and Lord get another of their targets with the signing of Iain Howard. I believe this is a very good signing and a great piece of the midfield jigsaw.

Thirty five goals from 111 appearances for Chester and not as an out-and-out striker says a lot about what he can offer County. If Howard can continue this kind of form in a division he knows about, have we got that cutting edge that will see us challenge at the top?

I like this quote from Bogie ‘We are absolutely delighted to obtain the signature of a player who will be a constant goal threat, not only with his own tally but with his assists’ – read the official news item here.

A bit more about Howard as he talks about his time at Chester FC here

A little bit more upbeat news. Our groundsman, Liam Cash looks to have created a bowling green rather than a football pitch. The playing surface looks in better nick pre-season than for a number of years.

So. Can you feel them? Those butterflies, deep, deep in the pit of your stomach.

It’s a feeling I haven’t had for County pre-season for a few years now, but the signing of Iain Howard has only added to those butterflies. Win more than we lose. That will be a start. Anything else will be a bonus.

Isn’t it about time County over-achieved for us all?

The last time I heard the word over achieve and County mentioned in the same sentence was when Gary Megson was in charge and we were almost top of the now named Championship League. All County’s Directors and Megson if the truth be known s**t themselves at the thought that we could be a Premiership Side the following Season. What a Team we had we really were the pride of Cheshire – so I’m all for over achieving if that experience is anything to go off. We even sold Alun Armstrong for £1.6M to Middlesborough to ensure we did not get promotion. What I hear you say Directors with no balls – somethings never change at County.

Very true. It is painful to look back. The potential of this club I think is not recognised by half the fans let alone our incompetent board.
