County have confirmed that they have lodged a second bid for Bury striker Ryan Lowe after their initial offer was rejected.

Bury stated earlier that they had rejected a derisory offer from an unnamed club – although everyone at the time knew that club to be us! – and that they would prefer to hold on to 32-year-old Lowe, who had a loan spell at County in 2008.

Since then, SCFC have released a statement confirming their interest in Lowe, and that manager Didi Hamann has lodged a second bid for the forward.

Hamann has also made bids for Accrington midfielder Sean McConville and Halifax striker Jamie Vardy, who struck 24 goals in 13 games last season.

Come on County now lets start how we mean to go on!

think hes good but inst there another younger top striker out there that the hundred grand could go on??

I see that things are moving in the right direction. The only thing is what if this Evans guy doesn’t continue his role at Stockport County come 6 weeks time and then leaves, and we have Didi Hamann, a manager on a big contract, Fowler who may come in, and all these £100k signings on high wages. Where does this leave County? That is what I’m worrying about, and how did Evans earn all this money to invest it into County?

  • footballtaz1 says:

can you see Evans leaving after investing all this money? I dont think so, and the money they are spending may be the money they are expecting from the Pilkington deal. Does Jim Gannon a get a cut of the money?

  • Kremb says:

@footballtaz1 : I can as its not like we make profit, its Sale Sharks that do.

  • iowecounty says:

We’re being linked with all these players, offering high transfer fees – this is what City fans must feel like…

Well this is starting to look interesting, Mr Evans seems to be a genuine person and putting his money where his mouth is, I couldn’t stomach another Melrose situation and thankfully that looks to be just a bad memory now.
I am evan thinking or purchasing the new home shirt for myself and my son and wearing it with pride again, we have a fantastic support/fan base and there are probably another 5 to 10 thousand in the Stockport area that would attand Edgeley Park if we were a champion***** outfit. Please forgive my optimism but I just love SCFC

Re above massage… I have no idea as to why the astrix marks appear on my comments “if we were a championship outfit” I can only assume I hit the T key on my computer instead of the P key lol

I’m with you Edgeley things are looking good for a change, looking forward to new players, new season and I have not said that for a long time.

Simple, bring back Matt Paterson from Southend and watch the lad rip it up. Southend want rid and if we can convice him to spend a year in the Conference then I believe he would get us up first time of asking. His debut v Bury is still one of the best that I can ever remember (hence my username!!)

    County forever

  • Kid Charlemagne says:

Pato – did not realise Southend want to get rid. That would be a statement of intent signing him. Going back to what Taz1 said – surely Evans & Co. will take control in 6 weeks time. They cant just be spending the Pilks money for the buzz before withdrawing….. could they? Nah. Recent events have made me too neurotic ! Come on County! Dare we believe we may be pushing for play-offs or more?

  • Pato's Right Boot says:

Kid Charlemagne (I am old enough to remember Steely Dan!). Paterson has been pushed out at Southend, he is currently about to fly off with Oxford United on their pre-season tour of USA so I believe he will probably join them. However, if we get our bid in fast then what a signing he would be – he was outstanding and a perfect fit at County – I am sure he loved it. GET THE CHEQUE BOOK OUT!!

God, I am getting really excited about the new season!!

  • werpremleague says:

Isn’t it a refreshing change to be getting excited about the new season! Just hope all this talk of big signings isn’t just a publicity stunt. Jamie Vardy has been looked at by alot of league clubs. It would seem 50k was never going to be enough to get him. Time will tell!!!

  • iowecounty says:

We’d have a better chance if we make a High bid rather than a ‘Lowe’ one haha
