Latest Co-op Meeting – thoughts

Last night (Thu 24th April) the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative met at the Bungalow club (next to Edgeley Park).

For those unaware there have been quite a few positives coming out of the club recently, and I will try to piece these together into a couple of good news articles in the next few days.

The only couple of eye-raisers last night that Ian witnessed for me were:

Steve Bellis and George Hudson had the full backing of active shareholders , and had written to those shareholders not committed to debt w/o or share relinquishment requiring a response within 7 to 10 days.

In answer to questions on the subject later, the Chairman confirmed that should the minority shareholders not respond positively, within the mentioned time scale, a further meeting of the Supporters Cooperative would be called and a mandate for action put to it by the Coop Board.

In his opinion this action would not include not buying a season ticket.

I was under the impression that the invisible, stay-away shareholders had, en bloc , agreed to waive their loans and forfeit their shares? Thereby making County much more attractive to any new investors?

Surely we cannot limp on without new investment coming in? How many of us can stomach another mid-table season at this level of football?


The second slightly disappointing point that Ian recorded was this:

As far as supporters representation on the Board of the Club, it appears that the new people are not as keen on this as we are [The Co-op].

Now, I hope that this stance is because a position on the board right now may muddy the water for any new owners coming in? Pure speculation on my part !


There does seem to be a more upbeat feeling about the club at the moment and I shall try to highlight what I see in the next day or two.

In the meantime, lets hope for a win…. or even a goal as County play their final game of the season, home to Harrogate Town.
