Looking Forward To The Day Jim Comes Home

After Jim’s first game in charge ending in a 2-1 defeat away at table topping side Fleetwood ‘The Ghost`s’ men now have a home encounter against Southport, a side who are going above everyone`s expectations this season as they currently sit in the promotion spots in 3rd place in the Blue Square Premier League.

Southport currently sit 19 points ahead of the lowly Hatters in 3rd position, having played 20 games so far this season The Soundgrounders have knocked up 11 wins, 5 draws whilst loosing 4 in the time being. Southport have currently scored 34 goals this season and have conceded 30. With 15 league places separating the two teams Southport go into Saturdays game with the second best away record in the league and the advantage of a 8 game battle without a loss to their name beating Gateshead and drawing 1-1 with high flyers York along the way.

This week Southport have bolstered their squad with the addition of two new faces. Defender Adam Parry and striker Kurtis Guthrie, both of these players are in line to make their Southport debuts against The Hatters on Saturday at Edgeley Park.

The County following will be looking forward to the game on Saturday with the return of Jim to Edgeley Park, the last time Gannon lead his team out it resulted in a thrilling 4-3 victory against Crewe in May 2008. Today the County ticket office have stated that the club are up on 1200 tickets to the predicted game before Jim’s return, meaning that the chorus of ‘Jimmy Gannon’s Blue n White Army’ should be heard echoing for miles around Stockport.

My prediction for tomorrow is simple and I rout for a Stockport win followed by a afternoon to remember with the marking of Jim’s return by the chorus of the County fans showing their support.
