Macc 1 – County 1. Different class.

So, the Blue and White Army returned from Macclesfield after securing a point, courtesy of a John Macken equiliser. County fans joy reading their ‘pink’, sorry, looking at the table on their smart-phones, was tempered by the sight of Stockport County occupying a bottom 4 place.

The day overall was different class though. As is traditional, County took a huge travelling support. 2105 (plus a few others in the home end / corporate!). More than half the attendance. The pubs were filled with County fans before the game and County anthems resounded through the evening as many of Macclesfield’s hostelries had a bumper night.

County support. Different class. Even this grizzly old County curmudgeon was taken aback.

On the pitch… well we witnessed a Macc side, which I guess was almost man for man better than our boys, waste a number of chances before Matthew Barnes-Homer scored in the 63rd minute. I must say I at least, had that horrible sinking feeling – I could not see any way back at that point, so John Macken’s equiliser was a huge relief and who knows how crucial that goal will be come the end of the season.

Overall, Macc wasted a number of chances throughout the game and should have taken all three points. Sad to say, Macc’s side. Different class.

I do feel for Ian Bogie, he has no wiggle room. Our best starting X1 I think are taking the pitch. The thought of Hattersley and Hobson in particular banging in the goals for our relegation rivals beggars belief.

If we go down it will be due in no small part to the lunacy of recent decisions, starting with the appointment of (can’t be mithered to look up the correct spelling) ‘Bosnian Dave’, the rash of recent signings, some of whom are better off playing for the Dog and Duck, and the loaning of our strike-force. To rivals. With no recall (apparently).

I still hold to the belief we may need 53 points to stay up. So 7 points from these 5 games. Time for a bit of disbelief suspension.

Grimsby at home (no time for a match preview – got to paint a fence and get down EP sharpish – I reckon a draw)

Alfreton away (draw)

Dartford at home (three points please)

Gateshead away (draw)

Kiddy away (loss)

There, seven points, easy, and a long unbeaten run!

Win today and I think we will stay up. Lose, and it’s odds on we have had it.

No pressure then.

Come on the County boys!

Cropped.

Must not lose today. Going to be tight but Kiddy may be resting up for the last game as they look to be play-off bound. I think they play 4 days later so we may get something from Kiddy away. The away support if we need something will be special.
