Macc vs. County – Vital Preview

I like Macclesfield. I really do. Nice town, nice pubs and a good feel to the place. I like their football club too, who it could be argued are punching their weight in the Conference. Mind you, I like Bollington even more.

As things stand Macclesfield Town are on the fringes of the play-offs and really need to beat County to be in with a chance of finishing in the top 5. After this mid-weeks results (Barrow beating Macc, Gatehead and Nuneaton securing another point each) it does not take a genius to conclude that County really could do with taking something from this game. County should be upbeat after the victory over Newport but I still worry we do not have many goals in us. So it may come down to keeping a clean sheet to secure a nil-nil draw.

Taking a look at the stats, Macc’s last 10 games have yeilded them 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats, scoring 10 goals scored and conceding 10. So not prolific. According to their official site they have no injury worries. The Manchester Evening News site have a decent preview and have the game down as a 1-1 draw.

I think with at at least half the gate made up of County fanatics we will battle hard to earn a point. May be no goals but a game full of high tension.

Macc NIL County NIL and a league table that still shows Stockport County above the bottom four would do for me!

Anyway, you can stick your Macc Lads, lets ‘ave a bit of Frankie Vaughan
