Jim made two changes following Tuesday nights defeat to Macclesfield. Daniel O’Donnell was left out of the side as a precaution as he has found a lump on his foot whereas Darkwah was dropped to the bench and replaced by Nolan.

County faced a tough game ahead of their trip to Wales as Newport were top of the league until their Tuesday night defeat to Dartford. County were optimistic that they could get anything from The Welsh Side ahead of their journey but Jim’s men proved some wrong.

Twenty seconds into the game County had a clear penalty decision turned sown as Hobson was brought down inside the box. The referee waved for the game to continue. In the opening 15 minutes County kept their defence solid as Newport couldn’t catch County on the break as three attempts were deemed offside.

County’s first shot came in the 20th minute from Whitehead but Danny’s shot was blocked by Mike Flynn, County won a corner, Newton took a short corner, Sheridan was fouled and Newton took a free kick from the wing, Newport hit County on the counter attack but nothing came of the effort as the result remained 0-0.

County had three more attempts on goal before half time with The Hatters having shots from Hattersley, Hobson and Whitehead. Nothing came of the attacks as Newport defended their socks off at their home ground as County pushed for the opening goal.

the second half saw County fall asleep for the opening five minuted as Newport event searching for the opening goal. Newport has two shots deflected with the second leading to a Welsh corner which was well held by Ormson.

County wanted to push for the attack and Darkwah was brought on in replacement of Nolan as County looked to attack their Welsh counterparts. In the 60th minute Darkwah was fouled and a free kick was taken by Newton but County could not break the Newport defence.

With the score still at 0-0 Jim took the chance of bringing another attacking player into the game and handed Alex Meaney his first game for The Hatters as Meaney replaced Hattersley. Soon after the replacement Alex went to the ground for a challenge and as a result in this received a yellow card fro his efforts.
Jim decided to stick to a away day point as Hobson was brought off in replacement of Halls to strengthen the back four and try and hold onto a away day point.

in the 80th minute Ormson kept The Hatters in the game with a great save from the shot from lee Evens. Eight minutes County were unlucky not to be in the lead as Alex Meaney had his shot smacking against the cross bar!!!

Yes, we could have taken all three points but from listening to the game on Pure it seemed like Newport had their chances and a possible penalty shout denied. A good result and a clean sheet away from home. Decent enough in my book!

The game was very even with County playing some good stuff. Both defences were solid giving little away both keepers had only one real save each to make throughout the game. They hit the post once, we hit the bar near the end. The one thing I did notice and it seems apparent to me each game is that we seem to tire and consequently become ragged. I assume that is down to the fact that we are a very young side. Nevertheless we earned that point and I was well pleased.
