Stockport County number one Ian Ormson was called up to the England C team for their game against Belgium last night. Ormson failed to make the starting 11 but managed to get his name on the bench for Ian’s first experience in the England setup.

England managed a 2-1 win over Belgium.

Well done to Ian for getting himself into the England set-up, we wish him all the success for the future.

I know Ormson has made a couple of mistakes in recent games but we should remember he is a young player and a great one for the future. Going to stick my neck out and say he will not be a County player for the 2013-2014 season but he will have boosted the County war chest by a six-figure sum (with juicy add-ons clause). I say ‘war-chest’ – I really hope any sale isn’t just a ‘balance the books’ exercise following another loss making season. No inside knoweldge there by the way, just scarred by past seasons announcements!

There must be scouts around, taking names and checking up on our young promising lads, I for one hope we can hang on to them, and resist any offers. I know it’s difficult, ‘cos we need the money, but it’s just a vicious circle. Every time we get a good ‘un , we sell him, wer’e never going to get anywhere.

Dave, the money situation – hate fretting over it (wish football was back to just thinking about on the pitch matters) but Club Director Spencer Fearn has been talking about next season season tickets being in sale THIS JANUARY. Cash a problem again?
