County have completed the signing of Peterborough United defender Carl Piergianni on a one-year deal.
The 19 year-old centre-back made 21 appearances on loan at Altrincham last season, and Posh rated the youngster very highly – but ultimately, the sway of regular first-team football was too good to turn down for Piergianni.
‘Pidge’ said on his Twitter account today:
‘Thank you to everyone who supported and helped me in the years ive been at PUFC, I have enjoyed it all and have learnt so much, thank you.
I am gunna miss everything about Peterborough but have now signed for Stockport County, and am looking forward to a new adventure.
Just can’t wait for the season to start on Friday now!’
Piergianni can go straight into the squad for Friday’s big kick-off against Forest Green.
* Striker Benjani has been given until tomorrow morning to decide on whether to accept County’s non-contract offer. The Zimbabwean would need to be cleared by tomorrow in order to be eligible for Friday’s visit to Nailsworth.
