Play-Off Mathematics

With just three games to go in the season for Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury, and two games for two games for all other contenders the math is quite simple to work out.

Bristol Rovers visit Macclesfield Town tonight. Shrewsbury host Wrexham tonight.

If Shrewsbury win tonight they are assured of a play-off place and will move to 5th place.

If Bristol Rovers win tonight it would mean the gap between them and County is just one point with two games left. A defeat for Bristol Rovers on Saturday and a win for County would give us our play-off line up.

If Bristol Rovers draw tonight, and fail to win on Saturday – and County win on Saturday then County also secure a play-off place and we have our play-off line up.

And if Bristol Rovers lose tonight, and County win on Saturday then County are assured of a play-off place.

Stockport County supporters will be supporting Macclesfield and Wrexham tonight, but in reality the Shrewsbury result is irrelevant to County’s causes.

So lets hope for a Macclesfield win and a Wrexham win, which would also see them two push themselves a step safety to survival and mean more local derbies should we stay in League Two next season!
