Poole Grabs 4 (FOUR) As Trialists Stumble

County thrashed Oldham reserves 5-0 last night at Hyde United as David Poole banged in four goals and worryingly for Gary Ablett, a few trialists were hooked with serious injuries.

Although former Newcastle striker Frank Danquah scored the goal of the game as he impressed in his second match for the Hatters in the Senior Cup, Ipswich defender Matt Brown was pulled at half-time with a dead leg, and Southampton forward Jamie White collapsed in a heap with what was later diagnosed as a torn cruciate – for the second time in his career.

Poole opened the scoring on 34 minutes when he rolled the ball past ‘keeper Tony White. The winger got his second 25 minutes into the second-half when he won a penalty and converted.

Danquah then struck with a fine solo effort as he ran from the half-way line before stroking into the far corner from about 18 yards.

Poole’s hattrick was complete when he cut onto his left foot and fired high into White’s goal.

And with 92 minutes on the clock, Poole beat the offside trap to prod home after Danquah’s blocked effort.

Four goals for David Poole. Crikey they must have been bad.
