‘Pride To Play For’ For Hatters

County boss Gary Ablett knows survival in League One is now ‘highly unlikely’ this season but says his side must continue to battle and fight for points until the end.

The abysmal showing last night leaves County 13 points adrift of Tranmere in 20th place, needing basically wins from every remaining fixture of the season – of which there are ten.

Ablett knows it’s ‘desperately unlikely’ but says he is ‘content with the effort’ shown by the players this year in one of the most difficult of our history.

‘There’s still 30 points to play for, and if we get 10 wins then we’ll stay up. I know it’s highly unlikely, but we’ve just got to keep the lads going and all stick together.’

‘We must continue to show some pride in these remaining games despite how difficult our situation looks.’

‘We started really positively, we had chances and their keeper made some great saves. We could easily have been four-up.’

‘However, the sending off changed things and this is as disappointed as I’ve been all season.’

On another note – and not blaming them at all for our impending relegation, I know it’s clutching at straws to do that – the refereeing in League One this season has been on another level completely….Absolutely awful.
