After a lengthy process during which we interviewed a number of high calibre applicants for the role, the Board of Directors have appointed Ray Mathias as the new manager of Stockport County. Ray impressed throughout the interview process with his plans for the future of Stockport County FC and we are delighted that he has accepted the challenge and look forward to an exciting time ahead as the club looks to regain its place in the Football League at the earliest opportunity.
Monday 6th June is the last day of the 2nd phase of the ‘early bird’ Season Ticket offer, this will be the last date for Hatters fans to reclaim their current seat.Season Ticket sales are vitally important to the club as Ray Mathias looks to bring in the players that he needs and although we have already sold around 1,200, which recognises the loyalty of our fans whose support is truly appreciated, we would encourage our supporters to take advantage of the ‘early bird’ option as we develop plans for next season.
As part of the Board’s promise to improve dialogue with supporters, Chief Executive Officer Graham Shaw attended the recent Stockport County Supporters Alliance meeting. The SCSA includes supporters’ groups working together, in partnership with the Club and to benefit the Club. Graham is committed to attending more of these meetings going forward, along with Andy Calvert, the Club’s Supporter Liaison Officer.
The club posted a statement last week advising supporters about approaches that the club has received. We are very aware of the keen interest that supporters have in this issue. It is very difficult to achieve the confidentiality requested by the interested parties and normal business practice, and to balance this with the natural interest of supporters. The discussions reported last week are still ongoing with meetings held over the last seven days and more planned in the next week. The club will continue release information as and when available.
