Jim Melrose’s bid to buy Stockport County has failed AGAIN as the Football league refused to transfer the shares over to the Melrose Consortium to complete the take-over.

The Football League are apparently unhappy with some outstanding issues with the consortium, scarily ‘the only viable consortium to buy SCFC’, and so have ordered a meeting with the administrators solicitors to iron out (hopefully!) these issues and move on. At some point. We’ll probably be given a new date now. So far it’s been the start of this season, the end of September, 19th of November, mid-way through December, 14th January…I’ll go for the 1st April. Or I would do, but this is getting beyond a joke.

Anyway, administrators Leonard Curtis have just released this statement:

Stockport County Association Football Club Limited (SCFC) entered into administration on 30 April 2009, with the appointment of John Titley and Paul Reeves, Directors at Leonard Curtis, as Joint Administrators.

This statement is an update from the administrators.

‘As indicated previously, the Football League Board met yesterday (14 January) to consider the proposed transfer of the Football League Share to the Melrose Consortium.’

‘Unfortunately, we understand that they were unable to recommend that the Football League Share be transferred at this time as there were still some issues to be resolved. We have requested that the Football League confirm what matters remain outstanding and have offered our assistance to both the Football League and the Melrose Consortium to resolve these matters if possible.’

Any room for one more in the Unibond?

  • Sigh…it’s not happening for us is it? I’m starting to actually feel as if it’s just our time to go. 🙁

  • I think deep down we all knew this wasnt going to happen, now how amny more will jump the sinking ship!!!! Ive ben upbeat til now but even im geting the sense of game over….deep joy…

  • What is the football League’s problem? They’re unhappy with some outstanding issues with the consortium? No one else is remotely interested in buying us. Now is not the time to be picky. Get a goddam grip.

  • Melrose/Tatum and whoever may not ever be able to satisfy the FL. The only positive outcome I can see is if Brian Kennedy and us, the ordinary fan club together. Maybe Kennedy ends up with 75% and many of us small hareholders end up with 25%. I think Cropped in the forum mentions this option.
