Stockport County appoint new Chief Executive

Ryan McKnight has been appointed as Chief Executive as Stockport County.

The former editor of FC Business is highly respected in the Football world and has had other job offers from the Premiership which he has turned down to run Stockport County.

One of the most respected commentators on the politics, governance and finances of the industry, Ryan was one of the judges for the North West Football awards where Stockport County captain Joe Connor was nominated for an award.

Speaking to FCBusiness.co.uk ahead of the announcement he said “This is an exceptional opportunity and I am extremely happy Spencer Fearn and the board of directors are taking a ‘football specific` approach to their recruitment, something I will continue.’

He is keen to get Stockport County back into the Football League too.

“For many years, I have observed and analysed the game and industry, lobbied for improvements, and now I have the chance to help a great club develop, as we look to build something special and eventually return Stockport County back to the Football League.

“The club has huge potential, a strong and passionate supporter base and owners with the required vision to make the supporters` dreams a reality.”

Ryan will be attending tonight’s game against Mansfield Town and we wish Ryan all the best in his role at Stockport County – good luck!
