Stockport County Death Threats?

* Author takes a deep breath, counts to ten, and tries to keep rational *

Stockport County Football Club official site is claiming death threats have been made against board members. The author of the piece is our Chairman, Lord Snape.

(I always thought a chairman of a football club is in that position to project all that is good about the football club and be part of a connection between club and supporters).

Anyway we get THIS

IF the allegations are true then that is despicable. This is, after all, just football (even if many feel that it is a now about a football club being run into the ground with the only interest a juicy land deal along the line).

There have been no whispers of shenanigans of this nature on this website or from any of the folks I speak to before and after the game. Angry words were alleged to have been spoken after our latest home game humbling but nothing more.

So IF there has been death threats made I very much hope our police force are even now taking action to ensure the safety of all SCFC officials and are greasing the wheels of justice. Flogging’s took good for ’em I say.

Of course, you may think that the shocking ‘product’ on the pitch, the feeling of alienation some (many?) fans feel about their club and the deep suspicion that the current lot who own SCFC do not give two hoots about the club means that we need a villain.

Despite the closing paragraph of the statement:

‘The Board is grateful for the support and patience of the vast majority of our Fans whose behaviour is exemplary and who, like us, want only the best for our Club and its future’

– it feels like that ‘villain’ of the piece is me, a very ordinary rank and file supporter? Or indeed you dear reader.

No. I have read the statement a few times and I still feel like it is ‘them and us’.

I want to bring my 5 year old lad to his second game, the Newport match, on Saturday. How do I explain to him that despite supporting Stockport County Football Club, part of me wants nothing more to do with it any more?
