As we come to the sharp end of the season, just how many points will County need to survive?
Must say back in August I did not expect to be thinking about this as we go into April. I had hoped County, under Jim Gannon, would be tucked up nicely somewhere in mid-table. Not threatening the play-offs but not anxiously looking back, teetering on the edge of the drop-zone.
So, we are where we are and last nights victories (Lincoln spanking Braintree 3-0 at Braintree ! Hyde beating Cambridge 2-1 at Hyde) were most unwelcome. Gateshead secured a decent point at home (well where ever home is nowadays for the Heed) to Grimsby as well. Only Mansfield seeing off Nuneaton went for us. The pressure is well and truely back on and for me, that feel good factor after the Newport vistory has evaporated.
Just how many points will County need from the remaining 6 games?
Ruling out Telford and dare I say Ebbsfleet, there are still a lot of other sides involved in the scrap. Barrow, Nuneaton, Gateshead, Southport, Lincoln, Alfreton, Tamworth, Hyde could all drop out and looking at all these clubs remaining fixtures (and that was a dull half hour) I think County may have to get to 53 points to be safe.
So where will those 8 points come from?
Macc (a)
Grimsby (H)
Alfreton (a)
Dartford (H)
Gateshead (a)
Kiddy (a)
Four away games and just two remaining home fixtures. Now, I think we need to be safe before Kidderminster away. Not a nice thought needing to go there and get something.
Finger in the air time.
A point at home to Grimsby
Three points at home to Dartford
A point at Alfretorn
A point at a very tired Gateshead
Hmmm… we will need a point at Macc and that takes us to 52. Did I say we needed 53 to be safe………. think it’s going to be a case of this
Clench those buttocks County fans!

Cropped we need to win ALL games, when the points are in the bag then we are safe. We should NOT rely on other teams to slip up. Our destiny is in our own hands. With the new man in charge I am sure it will be the aim to get as many points as possible.
I just can’t see it MA. Bag of nerves… must have County Stess Disorder. Win at Macc would be a huge step towards safety though.
Beat Macc on Saturday and we will stay up. THough we may be looking for Mr. ‘OG’ to score our goals again.
Barrow winning last night ups the ante. We will be fine IF we win some games. Simple as. Scoring goals is my worry. Hobson back from loan?
We owe Macc big time, still seething from 6-0 a while back but where will the goals come from ? as you say greyhound any chance to get Hobson back as we need a big guy up with Cullen. Ian Bogie is no mug and is hopefully working on it but lets take it one game at a time and get behind the lads. Okay if it turns out we need a point at Kidderminster last game then so what ? we did it againest Carlisle not so long back – no time to be fickle we need to show them we have Faith & Courage and let it spill out on to the pitch. Your Team needs you more than ever COME ON COUNTY !!!!!!!.
If we need something from Kiddy I will be there BAM. Huge travelling support. Hope it doesn’t come to that. I’ll need a Pacemaker fitting.
Best Iv seen us for a long time against Newport so thought I would go to my first away game this season at Macc to see if we can do it back to back.
I’ll be at Macc! Come on the County Boys!!!
