Striker needed?

As Stockport County look to start to find a winning formula will a old playerer be heading back to the club? In recent years Jim has found several players who have been able to fill in the number nine and ten roles for his County side.

Of late goals have been hard to come of, especially from the strikers. Since the departure of Tom Elliott, Danny Hattersley has not been performing like he showed last season, this leads to me asking if we need another striker to come into place at the club?

If you cast your eyes back to 2007-2008 we had two very promising names among out squad list, the names of Anthony Elding and Liam Dickinson, with both players currently available would it be a good option to try and sign one of them to try and sort out the situation.

Elding of course came back to County in 2010 when County found themselves relegated from The Football League, Elding found his second stint at the club very fustrating after the striker only managed five goals in 20 league appearences.

Liam Dickinson has not been a shadow of the player he once was after leaving for Derby in 2008 in a offer the club could not refuse. Dicko has played for 10 clubs in the last four years and has not managed to win over any manager leaving him currently without a club.

As County look forward should another striker be brought in to help the goal tally?

Not Elding! I see also Darwah has been off-loaded to Colwyn Bay on loan. Didn’t Jim want his contract extended till the end of the season and Help The Hatters dig deep to raise the cash? Is that to make room for AN Other striker? Doesn’t seem like joined up thinking to us fans on the outside.

I think youve hit the nail on the head there cropped “fans on the outside”. We dont see these players between games. Their adaptability to play differing tactics, attitude and work ethic. Elding is definately not the answer. Hattersly was never in the game at Braintree. I dont think he has the ability to play on his own up front. He’s a poacher, he is not going to create his own goals. He needs to play off someone and wide players to get crosses in for him, not from deep but from forward positions.
