Third Time Lucky For Jim?

Tonight Stockport face a away trip to Grimsby for a Blue Square Premier clash. With the winds facing the fishermans town can County can only hope for a better performce that that seen at Edgeley Park on Saturday.

Grimsby currently sit in 16th position in the league, four places above the hatters. Six points separate the two teams with Stockport playing one more game that Grimsby. At home this season Grimsby have been on a stable form, with 10 games played the fishermen have won 5 of these whilst loosing 4 and drawing 1. Therefore from a possible 30 points only 16 have been picked up. At home this season Grimsby have scored 21 goals and conceding 16.

Last week Grimsby signed midfielder Luke McCarthy and one time Ghanan international defender Will Antwi, both of the players made their debuts for the club on Saturdays 2-1 victory away at Kettering. The top goal scores for Grimsby are Liam Hearn who has knocked up 10 league goals this campaign and fellow striker is County old boy Anthony Elding who has scored 7 league goals this year.

With a 200 mile round trip facing The Hatters I am sure that several County fans will choose against the trip on a cold Tuesday night.

County have already played Grimsby this season, last time out at Edgeley Park Stockport beat Grimsby 2-0 with goals from McConville and Elliot, these goals came in a pleasing display from The Hatters, since this victory County have only managed one win in their last 14 games.

Tonight I expect Jim to make several changes, with Carl piergianni being ruled out with a knock picked up last week he is aiming to return against Gateshead on Tuesday week. As far as I am aware Carl is the only injury for tonight’s trip, Matt Glennon is needing a fitness test but it is thought that he will travel twitch the squad.

With Saturdays defeat on the back of Jim’s mind I predict that several changes will be made from the team that lost on Saturday, therefore personally I think that some other quad members will be given their chance to shine.

The question I ask is will Jim turn to the youngsters? If he does I am sure they will do him proud. Cameron Darkwar and Danny Whitehead have both been given chances this season and personally I can see them been given a another chance tonight.

My prediction for tonight that County face a hard task with the away trip to Grimsby. I feel that at best County can scrape a draw, but as far as the starting 11 go I am almost sure that several changes will be made from the squad that failed to impress on Saturday against 10 man Southport.

Credit to Jim for coming back to this shambles he (Jim) is no mug and know’s the problems at SCFC …I was hoping that with Jimbo comimg back that he might have heard something was about to happen at the club in relation to investmant into SCFC by someone…wishful thinking I know.
I believe Jim will get it right but we need to get the majority of this shambles out first starting with McConville who stated when joining that we have doubled his wages that he was on at Accrington thats a bit of good business for Accrington as I dont rate McConville at all average at best.
Dont believe we will get a sausage at Grimsby tonight , I can only hope that with Jimbo’s size 12 up the majority of our players backside then we might scrape a draw, not optimistic though

Agree edgeley, the slackers must go and Jimbo will be the one holding the door open. As for investment if he can sort out the squad, bring in a few good players in January, get the crowds up to the four and half thousand that were there Saturday regularly and start winning games, then I believe we will become a decent investment.

Shell shocked. Worst result in County’s history? What is going on? Social loafers rebelling against the gaffer? Rounded off a crap day today – house roof and car and back garden trashed by a bloody tornado and not this. Christ, we may be adrift before Jim is able to change this in Jan. Utter, utter shock.

  • FRM says:

Cropped, have a whisky n chill, Jim will sort this shower out, hopefully he’s got em back in at 9am tomorrow and sent the team bus away and told them to find there own way back. on a serious note tho sorry to hear about your personal circumstances, maybe get the county players round to fix it, bit of team building…

Cheers FRM, the missus was in the house this afternoon when it hit. She said it was pretty scary. All on insurance. As for tonight, listened to the whole game. My God there needs to be a clear out.

  • FRM says:

  • Pato's Right Boot says:

Oh my God! I feel sorry for those supporters who travelled to fishy land. Seven nil and I am told that it could have been double that! Got to trust Jim to get rid of this shambles of a squad and build again.

  • iowecounty says:

I can’t believe it. We must be the only team that doesn’t have a ‘ honeymoon’ period once a new gaffer takes over. I didn’t think our side could reach any lower. I fear this is another nail in the coffin!

  • Mazarron Albert says:

Utter shambles, total disgrace, they don’t deserve to be paid for that non performance. As a club they should be looking at the tactics that are being instilled into the players. I also think that it is time for Willie Mc Stay to move on. We have had nothing but negative football since he arrived. I don’t think that we are going to be in this league come end of the season. So get rid of these non professional players and bring some new young players in that will gel together over the next couple of seasons. Then we may just have a chance to return attacking football to our club, and move up the leagues. If you were in any other business and you didn’t perform you would be shown the door. What is so different with these loafers?
