County youngster Josh Thompson is set to sign for Glasgow Celtic in a deal worth up to £500k including clauses and add-ons.

Thompson, 18, made 7 appearances for County last season, and after trials with West Brom, then under current manager of Celtic Tony Mowbray, requested a move to the SPL runners up.

The big defender has been in Scotland trying to agree personal terms with The Bhoys, and it’s reported that he has finally agreed a deal earlier this afternoon.

A move that would see Thompson loaned back to County for the coming season was hoped for by Hatters fans, especially after Mowbray said the youngster ‘was nowhere near their first team.’ But VitalStockport understand that move will not happen and Thompson will join up with the Hoops as soon as the deal is completed.
