County travel to strugglers Tranmere tonight looking for only their third league win of the season.
The televised clash is Rovers’ first game since the sacking of manager John Barnes on Friday, after picking up only 7 points and one win from 11 games.
Today though, County fans will be focussing on the latest ‘statement’ issued by the administrators currently bleeding the club dry, the main point being that they are still ‘very confident of selling the club.’
Oh joy.
The game will go out live on Sky Sports 1 from 7:30pm.
Gary Ablett (speaking after the defeat to Port Vale): ‘There were six changes, but the team I sent out was more than capable of winning that game.
‘We have to improve because if we don’t we are in serious trouble, even at this early stage of the season.’
Tranmere caretaker boss Les Parry: ‘I’d love the fans to come in their droves on Monday. I think it’s a massively important game.’
‘I think it will be an exciting game, so I would appeal to all of our fans to have a Monday night out and come and enjoy the game.’
Physio Les Parry will take charge of Tranmere for the first time following the sacking of manager John Barnes and assistant Jason McAteer on Friday.
efender Marlon Broomes could return at the expense of Ash Taylor after serving a one-match ban.
The former County striker notched a goal last season in a 2-1 victory for Rovers, and the dangerous but ageing forward will fancy his chances against skipper Michael Raynes.
Defender Paul Huntington has extended his loan deal for another 28 days from L1 rivals Leeds Utd, and he’ll go straight back into the side after missing out last Tuesday with a one game suspension.
Oli Johnson returns after missing a month due to a floating bone in his ankle. Matty Mainwaring still misses out while recovering from a broken leg.
Was dismissed by the disgrace of a referee last Saturday, and now he’s returning to the side, it’ll be interesting to see if he can bounce back and put in a solid performance.
Tranmere – 13/10
Draw – 9/4
County – 21/10
2-2. An entertaining game and (hopefully!) give a good account of ourselves for the Sky cameras.
