Stockport County have placed a six figure bid down on the table for an unamed goalkeeper.

With John Ruddy and Conrad Logan both being on loan at Edgeley Park last season it is highly likely that it the goalkeeper is one of those two.

Ruddy is at Everton, and it was always thought that a big bid would be accepted as Everton have plenty of cover, with Ruddy finding himself as low as number four.

With Tim Howard taking the number one slot, Stefan Wessels having number two this season and Iain Turner has the number three. But rumours are going round that Everton are interested in two goalkeepers from the Championship, ex County player Wayne Hennessey and Birmingham City keeper Maik Taylor.

Meanwhile, with Leicester City being relegated to League One, it is likely a bid would be accepted for Conrad Logan too.

It is then likely that County would then go for a younger, cheaper, number two to back up the more expensive number one.

That figure is likely to be Ben Hinchliffe, who has been released by Derby County and County are leading the race to sign him.

Hinchcliffe has played for County in friendlies towards the end of last season, and reserve games.

Darlington are also in the race to sign Hinchcliffe, with their number one moving onto greater heights at Fulham this season.

We’ll have news of any signings as soon as we get it.
