Stockport County will travel to Staines tonight to try and replay the postponed game from Monday night.

On a day when England got rid of Steve McClaren, many people will have forgotten that their is still a competition run by the FA taking place this evening.

County will feature on Sky Sports 2 tonight, the program starts at 7:30.

Vital Quotes:

Mark Maguire (CEO): ‘It’s really important to know the effect that eight hours on a coach has on the players and to do that twice in a week really would be too much in terms of dehydration and in terms of the time they arrive home.

‘The backroom staff and myself will travel down by coach early on Thursday and the players will be flown down and we’ll pick them up from Heathrow.’

Anthony Elding: ‘Personally I think it was the wrong decision. The ball was rolling.

‘There was a couple of puddles over near the tunnel area, but other than that the pitch was okay. It was quite firm underneath.

‘Everybody in the dressing room was very disappointed. We’ve travelled a long way and we’ve prepared as well as anybody could for a game like this.

‘The club have spent a lot of money on the whole situation, but we’ve now got to come all the way back down here.

‘But it’s been called off, so we’ve now got to come back in the right frame of mind.

Staines Team News:

Midfielder Andre Scarlett will be looking for a start tonight after staking his claim in the Senior Cup win over North Green United. Howard Newton and defender Adam Thompson are fit after Thompson recovered from hamstring pulls. He was dropped for the draw at The Park.

Leigh Mason is still out with a broken metatarsal.

Player to watch: Mark Nwojeki

Nwojeki has already scored 14 goals competitively this season, as well as 5 in pre-season. He shouldn’t be taken lightly tonight. He set up the equaliser in the first ‘leg’ and caused Paull Tierney and Michael Bowler all kinds of problems.

Stockport County Team News:

Chris Adamson is likely to start in goal tonight for Stockport. Conrad Logan isn’t allowed to play.

Keith Briggs and Paul Tierney will fly (ooo get us) down with the squad and could take part.

Player to watch: Chris Adamson

Under a lot of pressure to perform – much like Scott Carson last night. Can he produce under the heat of the tv cameras?

Match Odds

Staines – 9/2
Draw – 5/2
Stockport – 4/6

Vital Tip: Anthony Elding to score first. 5/1.
